Unpacking Jak R. Maier

unpacking event 5 | How is an estate catalogued?

Free admission.
At the temporary bauhaus-archiv, Knesebeckstr. 1, 10623 Berlin.

The six-part unpacking events dynamically presents the themes of the exhibition. In discussions with experts from the academic and professional fields and in live unpacking events, the museum team examines the hidden treasures of the artist’s estate. The findings will be documented on site by the designers sieblersiebler, which will steadily change the exhibition as more of the estate comes to light.

First, objects are selected and sorted. Then they are documented for the collection. But what does the process look like? Join us for the third unpacking event on a tour of our temporary photo studio with colleagues from the digitalisation and depot management department. We show you how objects are indexed, what aspects must be considered, and what specific conditions apply at the Bauhaus-Archiv.
