In the initial period, the Metals Workshop still saw itself as a ‘Gold-, Silver- and Coppersmiths’ Workshop’. The spherical copper tin by Naum Slutzky (1920) clearly shows the influence of the workshop’s first artistic head, Johannes Itten. He was primarily concerned with free studies of shape and the experimental appreciation and processing of metallic raw materials.
