Practice, Research and Experimentation at the future Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung

21.08.-27.11.2021

How did people teach and learn at the Bauhaus? What can we learn from the Bauhaus today? The future educational programme at the Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung will place special emphasis on practical application and design. A diverse programme of activities will invite visitors to practice, investigate and experiment together. “Learning Bauhaus” at the temporary bauhaus-archiv is a new programme that tests formats for the new museum so that we can already begin learning with and from our visitors. Our new “Instruction Database” features an extensive collection of design exercises, highlighting how they were taught at the Bauhaus. We are also interested in instructions that are taught at schools today and ask what exercise is best to begin with. An “Activity Roulette” mixes up and recombines various instructions to inspire visitors to create something entirely new. In a media station, we present our plans for enhancing access to our diverse range of archive materials based on the biographies of two Bauhaus figures. And every Saturday, the bauhaus_lab invites visitors to apply their creative skills to practical design challenges.
