Students of Nelson-Mandela-School present their work

20.03.-01.04.2025

As part of the course “Art and Design for 9th Grade“ students of Nelson-Mandela-School in Berlin-Wilmersdorf explored textile design, working with techniques such as embroidery, weaving, and crocheting. They drew inspiration from the works of Bauhaus artists such as Gunta Stölzl and Anni Albers. A selection of their work is now on display in the presentation “Workshop-Based Learning“ at the gallery of the temporary bauhaus-archiv.

At Nelson-Mandela-School, the topic of Bauhaus is an integral part of the curriculum in Art and Design. The cooperation between the Bauhaus Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung and the school has been ongoing for more than ten years. In the year of the Bauhaus anniversary 2019, the specialized Art and Design course was developed as the project series “Practicing Bauhaus“ for the 9th grade and has been continued ever since.
