In cooperation with Ineke Hans, professor of Design &amp; Social Context at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.udk-berlin.de\/en\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.udk-berlin.de\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Berlin University of the Arts<\/a>, the Bauhaus-Archiv\u2009\/\u2009Museum f\u00fcr Gestaltung presents student projects that rethink the tasks and possibilities of design at the temporary from 13 February to 7 March 2019.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-ho-lane-item col col-md-6 col-xs-12 col-md-offset-6\">\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ho-div\">\t<p class='ho-sd-body-einzug'>On 13 February 2019 at 6:30 pm, the public is invited to attend a discussion forum with Richard van der Laken, founder of the international design platform \u201cWhat Design Can Do\u201d and other participants who are working on socially-minded design projects in a globalised world.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n\n\n<li class=\"wp-block-ho-lane-item col col-md-6 col-xs-12 col-md-offset-6\">\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ho-div\">\t<p class='ho-sd-body-einzug'>One hundred years since the Bauhaus was founded, the debate continues: What skills and fundamental knowledge should young designers be taught so that they can offer a concrete and useful contribution to the world today? How should the artistic approaches which established design as a socially productive practice a century ago be brought up to date in the context of global trade, the dominance of financial markets, digitalisation and dwindling resources? This question was the focus at the Istanbul Biennal 2018. Based on six short workshops held during the festival, students in the department \u201cDesign &amp; Social Context\u201d went in search of new tasks and alternative roles for designers. For their semester projects, the students focused on topics related to digitalisation and old and new production processes. They also explored global issues like nutrition, waste and energy, and then attempted to develop innovative solutions and new strategies to address the underlying problems.
