With the selection shown here, we would like to provide insight into this rich collection and illustrate the diverse possibilities and the multifaceted approach to this medium at the Bauhaus. Typography played an important role at the Bauhaus from its founding. Defined in the early years by the expressive and calligraphic visual language of Johannes Itten, the Bauhaus contributed to the spread of so-called New Typography, particularly through the teachers L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Moholy-Nagy, Herbert Bayer and Joost Schmidt.
