What will the museum of the future look like?
The Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung is being renovated and expanded with a new museum building. In the “Talkshop Museum” series, we explored questions in connection with our future museum and discussed them with guests and audiences at the temporary bauhaus-archiv as live events and online. How do we reach people who have never visited a museum before? Should museums seek advice from the younger generation? How can we make museum displays inclusion-friendly? And how can curators make exhibitions more environmentally sustainable?
At six scheduled events, we invited guests with practical museum experience and experts from the areas of education, art and design to the temporary bauhaus-archiv to “talk shop” and discuss six different topics of museum practice. Audio recordings of the “Talkshops” are available online and at the temporary for a longer period of time. The design collective REFUNC has built the Talkshop set and listening lounges solely from discarded materials. At the end of the event series, the audience is invited to take the objects and find new uses for them.
