In “My Years at the Bauhaus / Meine Jahre am Bauhaus”, Werner David Feist describes and reflects on his life and studies at the famous school. Looking back, Feist describes his impressions of the unconventional teaching methods in the preliminary course with Josef Albers, in lessons with Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky, in the advertising workshop with Joost Schmidt, in the photography workshop with Walter Peterhans and, last but not least, in the stage workshop with Oskar Schlemmer. His account features great vividness, sensitivity and precise characterisations of the personalities that surrounded him. This first-hand information offers the reader deep, sometimes even intimate insights into life at the Bauhaus Dessau.
