The Bauhaus Kooperation Berlin Dessau Weimar is the alliance of Germany’s three Bauhaus research institutes and museums – the Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung, the Klassik Stiftung Weimar and the Stiftung Bauhaus Dessau. We are working together to realise joint exhibition and research projects.
The first exhibition “Modell Bauhaus” was shown in 2009 at the Martin-Gropius-Bau, Berlin, and under the title “Bauhaus 1919–1933: Workshops for Modernity” in 2010 at the MoMA, New York. In 2012, the Bauhaus Kooperation published the Bauhaus Travel Book, with accompanying app, about Bauhaus sites in Germany and worldwide. In 2012, the Bauhaus Kooperation realised the exhibition “Bauhaus: Art as Life” in collaboration with the Barbican Art Gallery. The initiative “Triennale der Moderne” (Triennial of modernism), launched in 2013 and held in Berlin, Weimar and Dessau, focuses on the global legacy of architectural modernism in Germany.
In the framework of the Bauhaus Association 2019, the Bauhaus Kooperation operated the head office and, with its three Bauhaus institutions, stood behind the projects “Bauhaus Agents”, “bauhaus imaginista”, “Opening Festival” and “Grand Tour of Modernism”.
In 2025/26, the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation is celebrating the centenary of the Bauhaus in Dessau together with numerous partners under the title “An die Substanz”. The foundation is organising exhibitions and events at the Bauhaus Museum Dessau, in the historic Bauhaus building’s workshop wing and at various locations in the city.
