“The Bob and Rebellion”: Women at the Bauhaus, Then and Now With Marlene Bart
Lorem ipsum
“The Bob” – the short haircut for women – was invented in the 1920s and was, in the truest sense of the word, modern at the time: on the one hand a radical expression of a new type of woman emancipating herself from traditional gender roles, and on the other an increasingly widespread fashion phenomenon across all social classes. At the Bauhaus, “the Bob” was a genuine statement, and almost all Bauhaus women wore their hair short – for a progressive lifestyle and for modern art.
In this episode, together with Marlene Bart, an artist in the making and a student at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, we explore some of the biographies of the most progressive women at the Bauhaus, take a closer look at their art and careers – and at art and women artists today.
