Since 2009 the Bauhaus-SpaceLab has been seeking to establish and promote early childhood education in the museum as a place of learning. Its goal is to offer a very young target group their first encounters with a museum environment and introduce them to the ideas and works of Bauhaus artists. Once a year, children from nursery schools and all-day primary school programmes participate in varied projects to explore the space and architecture as well as the fundamental principles of design.

Their work together is based on a shared conviction that artistic research, experimentation and practice are key components of early childhood cultural education and foster a wide range of skills, a sense of self-efficacy and social participation.
