In 1955 Hans Maria Wingler met Walter Gropius at the opening of the Hochschule für Gestaltung Ulm (HfG, Ulm School of Design). Together they established a network of former Bauhaus students who had emigrated or fled during the Nazi era. In 1960 Wingler founded the Bauhaus-Archiv, which still houses and researches the world’s largest collection on the Bauhaus. This book was published to mark the 60th anniversary of the Bauhaus-Archiv and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Bauhaus.
