The Bauhaus provided important impulses for modern design and functional architecture beyond Germany. However, its products were not the only decisive factor and central pillar for its international impact and reception. The ideas of the Bauhaus spread throughout the world, primarily due to the – mostly forced – migration of Bauhaus members in the 1930s. Here 25 authors from six different countries present current findings and research on the global significance and spread of the Bauhaus. The first part of the exhibition focused on the concepts that influenced the Bauhaus itself and how the ideas of the Bauhaus were passed on, particularly through its international student body as multipliers. The second part, under the heading “Migrant Bauhaus”, deals with the links and networks of the Bauhaus, which in turn lead back to Germany, where they resulted in the founding of the Bauhaus institutions in a divided Germany.
