Alma Siedhoff-Buscher developed a range of children’s toys, of which the ship-building game is probably the best-known, and it is being produced again today. Her aim was to encourage children to play freely. The colourful building blocks can be put together to form a sailing ship as well as animals or abstract creatures. However, the biggest challenge for the little ones was probably getting the pieces in the right order to fit them back in the narrow box. Today, it is plain to see that this originally 39-piece big ship-building game has passed through the hands of many children over the years and received a lot of use – just as Buscher would have wished for her children’s toy.
