Experiencing Architecture
Lorem ipsum
The building of the Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung, designed by Walter Gropius, is currently undergoing renovation and being extended with a new annex by Staab Architekten. For the reopening, “Experiencing Architecture” develops multisensory and creative approaches to architectural mediation, enabling visitors to actively experience the building. The Israeli architect and curator Eran Eizenhamer, together with the curators Friederike Holländer and Nina Wiedemeyer and an international team, will use architecture as a starting point to engage audiences with the buildings and the surrounding urban space.
The project comprises three phases: A symposium from 10 to 13 September 2026 will bring together international artists and experts from architecture, design, music, dance and performance to collectively explore the buildings of the new campus and establish a network dedicated to architectural exploration. The outcomes will feed into the programme for the museum’s reopening. Through a combination of performances, installations and workshops, visitors will discover the new spaces in a sensory and creative way. A publication will accompany the project, compiling exercises and insights as a kind of ‘user’s guide’ for the playful exploration of space and architecture.
