The preliminary course at the Bauhaus asked students to experiment, to sharpen their senses and train their creativity. Our online workshop introduces you to the topics and methods of the preliminary course teachers Johannes Itten, László Moholy-Nagy and Josef Albers in a practical way.

After a warm-up with gymnastics and drawing exercises, we will create tactile ornamentation on paper, play with colour compositions and design colourful typographic patterns.

The workshop is led by Barbara Antal and Doro Petersen. They are artists and art educators who work at museums and schools in Berlin, creating and teaching a wide variety of educational formats. For several years now they have been part of the freelance team at the Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung.

Participation free of charge. Limited number of participants.
