“Faith in the Thrill”: Bauhaus Parties With Erika Babatz

When we think of the Bauhaus, we also think of the wild artistic life that was lived there – and indeed, the Bauhaus was known for its exuberant celebrations. Some of these parties were based on artistic themes that were taken up by the Bauhaus workshops. Elaborate party decorations and costumes therefore belong to the Bauhaus just as much as furniture designs and architectural ideas. Today, however, we know these parties primarily through photographs.

Together with Erika Babatz, a distinguished expert on Bauhaus photography, we take a tour through the photographic world of Bauhaus festivities and discover the role that both photography and celebration played for the people at the Bauhaus.
