The medium of photography has been influenced by outstanding women photographers from the very beginning. At the Bauhaus, the camera became a means of female empowerment. In this telephone tour, our curators shed light on issues ranging from artistic experimentation to conservative attitudes toward gender roles, emancipation and the professional profile of women photographers – topics that influence our views of the women Bauhaus photographers to this day. The telephone tour introduces you to the curatorial approach to the central themes and contextualises their origin in the dynamic era of the Weimar Republic. The tour is particularly targeted at those with visual impairments and others who cannot visit the exhibition in person.
