This piece by Takehiko Mizutani was made in 1927 in the Preliminary Course given by Josef Albers, who encouraged his students to intensively analyse the material and the question of its shape. Mizutani links together three round pieces of brass sheeting, which are bent and inserted into each other. The rigid, static quality of the metal is transformed into its opposite here, giving rise to something completely new.
